Brakes, Bearings & Suspension Sorted
Caravans look fine sitting in the driveway — it’s when you’re halfway up the Bruce Highway that hidden problems show themselves. Cooked wheel bearings, brakes that fade on a downhill, suspension that bottoms out on a corrugated road — we see it all.
At Pialba Brake, Clutch & Steering in Hervey Bay, we give caravans a proper check before you head off. We service brakes, bearings, tyres and suspension so your trip doesn’t end with a tilt tray.

Ready for Your Next Adventure
Caravans cop it harder than most cars — heavy loads, long runs in the heat, and endless bumps on the road. That’s why problems creep up fast if they’re not caught early.
We handle bearing replacements, brake servicing, suspension repairs, wheel alignments and full safety inspections. We’ll also check the wiring and electrics so your lights don’t fail when you need them most. Whether it’s a weekend getaway or a big lap of the country, we’ll set your van up to tow straight, stop properly and hold together for the long haul.
Bring it in, and we’ll make sure the only drama on your trip is deciding where to stop for lunch.
How often should I get my caravan serviced?
It’s recommended to service your caravan at least once every 12 months or every 10,000 km—whichever comes first. Even if it hasn’t travelled far, components like brakes, bearings and suspension can still degrade over time. Regular servicing ensures safety, prevents breakdowns on the road and helps you stay compliant with registration requirements.
What’s included in a caravan service?
A standard caravan service includes checking and adjusting the brakes, inspecting and repacking wheel bearings, testing all lights and electrics, examining suspension components, inspecting tyres and checking the coupling and chassis for cracks or rust. It may also include a roadworthy inspection if required for registration. Each service is tailored to the type and condition of the van.
Do caravans need a roadworthy certificate?
Yes—just like cars, caravans and trailers require a valid roadworthy certificate (RWC) when they’re being sold or re-registered in Queensland. An authorised inspection station will check the condition of the brakes, tyres, chassis, suspension and lights. If the caravan passes all requirements, an RWC will be issued. If not, repairs will need to be completed before a certificate is granted.
